Our Team
Second Chance Science is solely managed and operated by a group of young, driven, science-minded individuals dedicated to serving our communities. The staff consists of STEM majors currently pursuing further education and careers in the science field.

Joshua Campbell
Co-Founder & Executive Director
Joshua Campbell is a dedicated professional with a passion for service and community impact, making him a natural ally for Second Chance Science’s mission to transform science education through sustainability. With a background in emergency medical care and crisis counseling, Joshua brings a unique perspective to the importance of accessibility and resourcefulness—principles that align perfectly with repurposing lab equipment to empower young minds.
Joshua believes that every child deserves the tools to explore and innovate, and he champions Second Chance Science’s work to turn discarded lab supplies into opportunities for discovery. Whether volunteering his time to organize equipment drives or advocating for equitable access to STEM resources, he embodies the spirit of turning "waste into wonder."
Joshua’s commitment to service extends beyond his professional roles, reflecting a deep-seated belief in second chances for people, for communities, and now, for science. He hopes to help ignite curiosity in the next generation of innovators, ensuring no beaker—or potential—goes to waste.

Alyssa Nemeroff
Co-Founder & Director of Operations
Alyssa brings technical expertise and heartfelt commitment to Second Chance Science, where she supports our mission to revolutionize science education—one rescued beaker at a time. With a strong background in office administration, scheduling, and financial management, she ensures our operations run smoothly so that lab equipment can be rescued, repurposed, and reimagined in classrooms that need it most.
Currently an undergraduate geology student at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, Alyssa is driven by a deep passion for equal access to education and scientific opportunity. Her volunteer work with Gigi’s Playhouse and the Grant Township Area Athletic Association reflects her dedication to community, inclusion, and youth empowerment. Whether she’s managing event logistics, coaching softball, or supporting children with Down syndrome, Alyssa brings the same enthusiasm she applies to giving science a second chance.
Alyssa also has experience advocating for and supporting the d/Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Low Vision/Blind community, working to ensure that all students are provided with equal access in the classroom. Her commitment to accessibility and inclusion strengthens Second Chance Science’s mission to serve every learner.
She’s not just keeping our systems efficient—she’s helping turn waste into wonder

Gabriel Sachs
Co-Founder & Director of Administration
Gabriel Sachs is a recent graduate from the University of Arizona with a degree in Physiology and Medical Sciences and a minor in Spanish. With hands-on experience in genomic research at the PANDACore lab and a background in clinical observation, Gabriel blends scientific expertise with a deep commitment to service. He is passionate about expanding access to science education, particularly in underserved communities, and believes that every student deserves the tools to experiment and discover.
Gabriel’s dedication to health sciences extends beyond the lab—he has worked closely with individuals with intellectual disabilities, helping teach teamwork, communication, and resilience through fitness and mentorship. He’s also coordinated meal programs for cancer patients and regularly volunteers in his community, driven by a desire to make science and healthcare more inclusive and accessible.
As part of the Second Chance Science team, Gabriel brings energy, empathy, and a clear vision: to help turn discarded resources into real opportunities for learning and growth.
